DOM DVA TOPOLA d.o.o. is a company for training and employment of people with disabilities, which has been successfully operating in Izola for more than 30 years. The founder and owner of the company is the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Slovenia, which brings together people with neuromuscular disorders. The basic mission of the company Dom dva topola, while employing people with disabilities, is to provide quality hotel, restaurant and health services for people with disabilities and other guests, and to offer a unique seaside experience by following the guidelines of accessible tourism. It was founded for the provision of medical services and the possibility of improving the health of people with neuromuscular disorders, and with the hotel work, it also opened its doors to all other guests in 2023. The program design of Dom dva topola was based on the intentions of the founder and owner of the company - the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Slovenia - to design part of its activities and special social programs in the field of employment, health maintenance and rehabilitation of people with neuromuscular disorders within the framework of a disability company. In the following thirty-five years, appropriate accommodation conditions were gradually created at the company's location for the work and accommodation of people with neuromuscular disorders without architectural barriers and with the provision of the necessary support aids and services. In the formative professional cooperation with the Institute of Clinical Neurophysiology at the University of Ljubljana and the University Rehabilitation Institute of the Republic of Slovenia - Soča, therapeutic approaches adapted to people with neuromuscular disorders were developed, which, with further development, grew into a comprehensive restorative rehabilitation program.
When looking for a place to relax, people with limited mobility face many physical limitations and often a feeling of being unwelcome. In accordance with the vision of our company, we place great emphasis on accessibility, the possibility of coexistence and the creation of an inclusive community, which is why all rooms and services within the resort are easily accessible for people with limited mobility, the elderly and families with prams.
By opening the resort to other guests as well, we ensured everyone's psychosocial comfort. We made it possible for those with mobility impairments to be accompanied by their partners, parents or friends and to spend the holidays together.
